Edward Mountain MSP visits Inverness Kart Raceway to celebrate Scottish Apprenticeship Week
Highlands and Islands MSP, Edward Mountain visited Inverness Kart Raceway to meet with foundation apprentices as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023.
The MSP said that apprenticeships offer a “win-win” for businesses and apprentices, providing them with “huge career benefits” and the opportunity to build a career in their local community too.
The theme of this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023 is ‘Unlocking Potential’, with the aim of showcasing what individuals and employers can achieve through apprenticeships.
Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships are supporting over 43,000 apprentices and 12,000 businesses across the country. Apprenticeships open opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities to gain and develop skills that will support them throughout their life and in work.
Edward Mountain MSP commented:
“I’m supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023 to show the positive impact work-based learning has on businesses, people and the Scottish economy.
“I was therefore delighted to visit Inverness Kart Raceway to meet with the management team and learn more about the foundation apprenticeships on offer at the raceway.
“Apprenticeships provide huge career benefits as well as real-life experience. The transferable skills taught to apprentices at the raceway are not only useful for maintaining their own cars but also pursuing a wide and varied career path in the motor industry too.
“Apprenticeships offer a win-win situation for both employers and employees, they benefit local firms and also give the opportunity for young people to stay within their communities - this is really important in the Highlands.
