Edward Mountain MSP welcomes UK Gov funding boost for Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Highlands and Islands MSP Edward Mountain has “warmly welcomed” UK Government funding for grassroots sports facilities in Inverness.

In conjunction with the Scottish Football Association, the UK Government have delivered £2 million worth of funding for 23 sites across Scotland.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Development was one of the successful applications, receiving funding of £157,120 to go towards grass pitch upgrades. The overall project will cost £392,800.

Edward Mountain MSP said:

“I am absolutely delighted that Inverness Caledonian Thistle has received this funding from the UK Government.

“This is a major boost for the club’s project to upgrade grass pitches, as part of its community development plans.

“Inverness Caledonian Thistle are at the heart of their community and this funding shows the UK Government’s firm commitment to investing in grassroots sport in the Highlands.

“I will continue to work closely with relevant ministers within the UK Government to push for more funding to be diverted towards grassroots sport across the Highlands and Islands region.

“I would also like to wish everyone involved in the club every success in its Scottish Cup Final against Celtic this Saturday and I hope they bring the trophy home to the Highlands.”
